Born April 23, 1895 in Silesia, Austria and died about 1972 in Florence, Italy, of complications following bowl surgery. Alfred Vogl married ?. She joined the Nazi party after Alfred divorced her, nothing else known. | Alfred's father, Theodore, was an inventor by profession, not very
successful and according to Alfred smoked an evil smelling pipe.
Died after Tom was born, probably 1931 or 1932.
Alfred's mother was Melanie. Alfred's half-brother was Paul Tanzer. (Tom isn't sure where the Tanzers came from - maybe Alfred's mother remarried? Tom remembers his father said that Paul took the name "Tanzer." Not clear!) Paul was a musician. He wrote the music to "I Kiss Your Hand Madame." He died in Paris at the end of World War II, about 1945. |

Alfred married Margareta Marek around 1925 in Vienna Austria. Tom Vogl 10 July 1929. Margareta later changed her name to Shulamith. Divorced in 1933 or 1934 in Vienna, Austria. |

Lillian came for St. Paul, MN. She married a man who had a breakdown on their wedding night and was institutionalized for the rest of is life. They were divorced. Lillian was an X-ray technician. She wasn't very fond of Shulamith, Tom & Katherine, but actually things smoothed over fairly well when Melanie brought Lillian as an unexpected guest to a big family Thanksgiving at Tom & Katherine's apartment in Bethesda with most of Tom's family including Shulamith. |
| Melanie married Jim Rabjohn in the early 1970s and was later divorced. Melanie died July 23, 1989 of breast cancer in Boulder, Colorado. |
