Jim's Poem

 Please Pass the Ossobuco

On Thankgivings past
We drank and we ate
You're leaving us now
McDonald's, my fate.

If I come to your isle
Will you open the door?
Invite me back in
Set a place on the floor?

If I follow you home
Will you feed me once more?
Take me in warmly
Set a place by the door?

If I come to New England
Will you greet me with smiles?
Extend hands in friendship
Offer food in great piles?

If I leave you alone
Will that be OK?
Never darken your doorstep
Stay far far away.

If I promise to visit
Only once in a while
Would that be acceptable?
Would that make you smile?

Then that's what I promise
I give you my vow
I'll keep a good distance
I'll start it right now.

I'll stay here at this place
Won't ask for a dime
If you'll let me eat with you
Round Thanksgiving time.
