Hi, Tom.  Great first issue.

My ISP can't handle email graphics at all.  If they do show up, they are
screens and screens of nonsense (probably code); usually they're listed
as "not shown" attachments but I can't view them or even save them to
look
at offline in a viewer program (I use a stripped-down version of Pine).

I do have an alternative (but shared) address that can handle them, but
that would get hopelessly complicated.  Maybe a place to post them?

I don't have a J-* yet, but I really really want a J-Comp.  I'm saving
my pennies.

Happy weaving,
Anne

>From Tom Vogl <tpv@world.std.com>:

I now have Dale's permission to distribute two documents that detail the
electronics/wiring of the J-comp.  There are four pages on
"Computer-Controlling the J-Comp and 6 pages of hand drawn/annotated
wiring/harness diagrams.  Please note what these are not.  They are
neither descriptions of the mechanical components of the loom nor an
intruction manual for using the loom.  Their sole utility is for
in-depth trouble shooting of the loom electronics.

What they are, are wiring diagrams useful for trouble shooting the
various microswitches and their function. To be useful, you need to know
how to read wiring diagrams. They also provide information needed to set
up your own I/O board in your computer and what each of the loom
microswitches does and what the output on its line should be under
various conditions. This should be enough information should you really
want to write your own loom driver (*.dll file).

If this information is of use to you, send me an e-mail message that
includes your real life name and snail-mail address and I will send you
hard copy.

If any of you (other than Katherine and I) do sectional warping of J-*s,
I'd be interested in sharing methods and tips with you and the group.

Also, Dale tells me that from time to time he does receive trade-in
looms.  He will post to this list when one becomes available.  In the
meantime, address inquiries to him directly at DJohns4908@aol.com.

Last, but not least, this is your opportunity to communicate with other
J-* owners/wannabees.  If you don't send me messages to post, there will
be nothing to put in the digest.  lso, i'd like your input on whether:
(1) a list memberrship directory with real name, e-mail, snail-mail and
phone would be useful to you.  If so, I'll need this info from each of
you; (2) Do you want to see all the addressees of these digests or shall
I supress the address info (several more people have joined since
message #1)?

Cheers,

T.
