Clover hook with point protector, plastic handle with rubber thumb rest. 13 cm long (about 5 inches). Sizes 1.75, 1.50, 1.25, 1.00, .90, .75. 60 mm. These sizes correspond to the numbers written on the hooks 0, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12. | My favorite thread hooks! Most of my thread doll clothes are made using a #2 hook and #10 thread. As of March 2002, LoneStarYarns carries these. |
| Clover steel & yarn set | ![]() |
Very nice set, though I prefer the Clover steel hooks with handles. These steel hooks are shorter than normal. | I got this from the Needlepoint Joint. |
| Clover yarn | ![]() |
Much shorter than the normal yarn hooks. Great bite on the hook and very comfortable to use. These are my favorite yarn hooks. | I get these
Needles! the Needlepoint Joint or from Lone Star Yarns |
| Unknown,handle says "KA" | ![]() |
A set of wooden (bamboo, I think) hooks, from Japan. Each hook is 13 cm (just over 5 inches) long. Handles have ridges. The set has hooks size 2.0, 2.2, 2.5, 3.0, 3.5, 4.0, 5.0, 6.0 mm. This corresponds to the numbers written on the handles: 2/0, 3/0, 4/0, 5/0, 6/0, 7/0, 8/0, 10/0. I've not crocheted with these yet, but they feel nice in my hand. I really like the fatter handle, the ridges and the length. | Bought at the Maryland Sheep & Wool Fair, May 2000. Webs also carries them. |
| Boye "Balene" | A somewhat flexible plastic. Has a nice warm feel, and the nice "bite" of the Boye brand. | I find these occasionally on eBay. | |
| Susan Bates (made in Mexico) | ![]() |
My least favorite hook because I don't like the deep bite in the hook part. | |
| Addi Turbo | Good bite on the hook, but not very comfortable to use. | ||
| Skacel (spelling?) | ![]() |
Portable because the handle forms the protector for the tip. But the handle tends to fall off. |
