This is one for the family x-mas letter!  My 5 year old is terrified of our Buff Orp rooster since it flogged her.  Only Psych damage since it has no spurs but she has never gotten over it!  We have come up with various means of defense for her including pine cones to throw, a "Moses" stick to swat him with, and the good old tennis racket means of defense.  One day she saw me spray the water hose to keep him out of my flower garden and decided that was a great idea!  She wouldn't have to get too close if she had something like the hose to spray him with!  I told her I would get her a spray gun or something next time we were out.

Well, I was at the barn feeding and grooming the horses and saw her coming down the lane to the barn with a spray bottle in her hands.  I called out to ask her what she was doing and she said she was chasing away the rooster with a water spray bottle like she had seen me using.  I had her come a little closer since I couldn't recall spraying water with anything but the hose and saw that she had been chasing the rooster around the yard (and my 6 foot tall azalea's) with a bottle of ROUNDUP! I had sprayed down all the poison ivy and oak the previous day and she saw where I had put the bottle of ready-to-use in the garage!  I guess I'll see where she's been over the next couple of weeks!

(We did have a talk about spraying anything except water out of her water gun.)

Oh well, what can you do but laugh and put it in the newsletter to live forever in the family history!
