BAPTISM
Baptisms are celebrated the last Sunday of the Month. Baptisms are at
2:00 PM.
Classes for preparation for the Sacrament of Baptism are held on Tuesday
evenings at 7:00 PM, at the Rectory.
Schedule of Baptism Preparation Sessions for the Spring of
2002
- January 15th for the 27th
- February 19th for the 24th
- March 19th for the 24th
- April 16th for the 28th
- May 14th for the 19th
What is the First Thing you need to do?
- The parent needs to contact Immaculate Conception parish office,
at (978) 458-1474, and make an appointment with Ms Claire Couillard,
Baptism Co-ordinator.
What other requirements are there?
- Parents must be registered members of the Immaculate Conception
Parish, who have been attending Mass on a regular basis for at least four
months prior to the Baptism. The choice of godparents should reflect the
importance of their role. It is not an honorary role, but rather one of
Christian Support.
- Parents must complete a preparation program prior to the Baptism.
This program consists of ONE session, conducted by our Baptism
Co-ordinator and other Parsih staff members. We strongly encourage you to
register for these sessions prior to the birth of your child.
Choosing Godparents
- Although only one godparent is essential, the Church suggests that
both a godmother and a godfather be chosen to serve as witnesses.
- One of the godparents must be a confirmed Cathlic, who is parcticing
his or her religion. (Under diocesan norms godparents must also attend
the baptism preparation session.)
Scheduling of Your Child's Baptism
- All baptisms are celebrated the last Sunday of each month. The
exact date for your child's Baptism will be discussed with you after
completing the preparation guideline.
