ITEMS OF CURRENT INTEREST

BIBLE STUDY: The Parish Bible Study will resume it's study of the United States Catholic Catechism for Adults on 11 February, the Monday after Ash Wednesday. The group meets in the dining room of the Rectory at 7:00 PM. Entrance is through the front door of the Rectory.

The Sesson on the 18th will cover Chapter 22.

If you are interested in knowing more about the Catholic Faith, in checking up on what you learned back in Catholic Schools or CCD, this is a chance to join fellow parishioners in the give and take of discussing the faith. While we are on Chapter 21 for this session, the construction of the Catholic Catechism for Adults is such that it can be started with any chapter. Each one stands alone.

PARISH ADMINISTRIVIA

UPDATING PARISH FILES: We are currently updating our files. If you are attending the Immaculate Conception Church and have never filled out a census form, or the status or configuration of your family has changed, would you please fill one out and leave it at the Rectory or put it in the collection basket. Census forms are located at the entrances of the Church. You can also download a version from this webpage by going to this LOCATION. When done, please drop the form off in a collection basket or at the rectory.

PARISH ENVELOPES: If you are receiving two sets of parish envelopes and would like to just receive one--perhaps addressed to Mr and Mrs, please call the rectory at (978) 458-1474. Please leave your name, address and envelope numbers. Please allow at least one month for the change.

PARISH IMPROVEMENTS: The Parish recently took delivery of pews which were offered to us free of charge by the former St Louis de France Parish. Those pews are now stored in the downstairs of our Church. Please feel free to sit in one and see how you like it.

The pews became available after St Louis de France consolidated with another parish in Lowell. The plan is to replace the chairs in the crypt church with the pews. This will include moving the present altar further back toward the curtains, allowing more space.

After Easter we hope to receive the Stations of the Cross from St Louis de France Parish; another generous gift from that parish. The Stations will be placed in our downstairs church.

LIFE IN THE PARISH

Our Parish Special events are listed separately.

The Immaculate Conception Pastoral Team works with a Parish Council. Our Parish Council meets the 3rd Thursday of each month, at 7:00 pm or as required by our Pastor.

Our Parish is part of the Archdiocese of Boston.

A little of the history of The Immaculate and the community we serve has been collected. We have provided some specific information on the architectural story. We have also posted our parish boundaries for those who might be interested. For those doing genealogical research the Archieves of the Catholic Archdiocese of Boston are available. For appointments, please call (617) 746-5797.

The Immaculate Conception Parish was at one time teamed, within what was then the Lowell Collaborative, with Saint Joseph's (Lithuanian) Parish, on Rogers Street. In 1999 it was decided to merge Saint Joseph's with the Immaculate and now Saint Joseph's has been closed and all Masses are held at the Immaculate.

There are other Roman Catholic Web Sites and we will be working on listing a few of them at this location.
