WILLIAM M. SEUCH concentrates his practice on environmental law, including “Brownfields” issues associated with the development and use of previously-contaminated properties. He counsels clients on the envi-ronmental issues associated with real estate transactions, leases, corporate mergers and acquisitions, corporate financings and international busi ness transactions. He also advises clients on a variety of environmental compliance, permitting and environmental insurance issues associated with real estate development and industrial operations. A substantial part of his practice involves assisting the firm’s real estate, corporate and lender clients in understanding, anticipating and managing hazardous waste and oil pollution issues under the Massachusetts Contingency Plan. Accordingly, he regularly works with and directs environmental engineers.

Mr. Seuch also has significant experience in environmental litigation and environmental insurance coverage disputes. He has been involved in numerous matters under federal and state environmental statutes, including private cost recovery actions and wetlands cases. His experience includes courtroom representation, direct negotiations with agency personnel and private parties over the status and resolution of these cases and the negotiation of consent decrees with the Department of Justice and the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection.

Mr. Seuch graduated cum laude from the University of Connecticut and received his law degree from the Georgetown University Law Center in 1990. He has published a number of articles on environmental issues, including articles on indoor air quality concerns, lender liability issues and the Massachusetts Clean Sites Initiative. Before joining Goulston & Storrs in 1994, Mr. Seuch was an associate in the environmental practice group at the Boston law firm of Hutchins, Wheeler & Dittmar. He is admitted to practice in Massachusetts and the District of Columbia.
