NWS Regional Summary - 640 AM EST SUN NOV 8 2009

A cold front was entering New York state early this morning. Southwest winds ahead of the cold front is transporting milder air across the region. This allowed temperatures to remain steady or slowly rise overnight. The cold front will cross southern New England later this morning. High temperatures today will range 10 to 15° milder than yesterday, well into the 60s under mostly sunny skies. Tonight, mostly clear and cool conditions are expected. Low temperatures are expected to vary considerably from the warmer high terrain and urban centers to the colder outlying suburbs. Overnight lows will range from the upper 20s inland to the mid 40s close to the coasts. Monday, breezy and unseasonably mild conditions are forecast as high pressure shifts south and provides an increasing southwest flow. This means afternoon highs around 70° will be common. This is about 15° above normal for early November but we do not expect to break any established temperature records for this date. High pressure south of New England will bring mild and dry conditions through early next week. A cold front will move across southern New England late Tuesday or Tuesday night, bringing a brief shot of colder weather and the chance of showers. High pressure and milder weather looks to return for late week and into next weekend.
