NWS Regional Summary - 228 AM EDT SAT OCT 31 2009
There was a mixture of low and high level cloud cover over northern New
England last night. These clouds, along with southerly winds, kept
temperatures on the mild side. Readings were in the 40s through much of the
night. Showers exited through eastern Maine during the late night hours.
Unfortunately, halloween looks more like a trick than a treat as a band of
showers moves across the region during the late afternoon and evening hours
from west to east. It will be windy as well, especially along the coast. A
wind advisory remains in effect for the coast, with high wind warnings in
effect downeast. It will be mild, with highs in the 50s north to the 60s
south. A strong cold front will sweep the showers out to sea late this
evening. Thereafter, it will be dry for the rest of the weekend as high
pressure settles over the northeast from Canada. A weak cold front will
approach the region Monday night, before exiting the region Tuesday. High
pressure will then once again settle over the east coast for much of the rest
of the work week.
