Overnight lows ranged from the teens in some of the countryside to around 30 in the urban centers. Any limited sunshine early this morning gives way to showery precipitation sweeping west to east across southern New England. It could briefly start as a snow sleet mix across the interior before changing to rain showers early this afternoon. Highs should be mainly in the 40s. Showers are likely tonight with temperatures steady or rising. Readings by morning from Boston to Providence should be close to 50°. Tuesday will be windy and warm with scattered showers. Highs are forecast to range from the mid 50s south coasts to the mid 60s interior. Travel will be difficult at times for high profile vehicles as southwest winds average between 20 and 30 mph in the afternoon with gusts near 45 mph. A strong cold frontal passage late Tuesday night will be preceded by scattered showers and then accompanied by a wind shift to northwest with gusts to at least 45 mph and sharply falling temperatures. Wednesday will be blustery and cool with plenty of sunshine. On this mornings weather map, low pressure in the central plains will pass through the upper Great Lakes Tuesday heading for Quebec.
