Occasional rain had occurred along the Mass Turnpike and just scattered showers in northern Connecticut, Rhode Island and southeast Massachusetts overnight. At least an inch of snow has accumulated in portions of southern new hampshire`s high terrain overnight. Rainfall through 5 am was under one quarter inch. Snow will continue this morning, heavy at times in southern New Hampshire and far northern Massachusetts where travel will be slippery. Occasional rain elsewhere will see snow and sleet mixing in down the Mass Turnpike region during mid morning. Precipitation will diminish this afternoon. Highs today will be in the 30s except lower 40s south coasts. Other than some lingering evening flurries, skies will clear tonight. It will turn noticeably colder by morning with lows mostly in the 20s. Despite ample sunshine Saturday, highs will only be in the 30s and gusty northwest winds to 30 mph will add a 10° colder chill. Skies will be clear Saturday night with even colder temperatures. Lows will generally be in the teens except low to mid 20s Cape Cod, the islands and southern New England urban centers. Wind chill should drop to between 5 and 15 below zero. Sunday warms back to within a few degrees of 40 with plenty of sunshine and much less wind. Low pressure near altoona Pennsylvania at 6 am will redevelop near Atlantic city late this morning and pass out to sea just south of Cape Cod this afternoon. Large and rather cold Canadian high pressure arrives this weekend.
