Temperatures were considerably warmer over most of the region early this morning as compared to 24 hours ago. Readings at dawn had risen through the 30s to around 40 as a gusty southwest wind developed. Today will be a nice day after scattered leftover rain showers dissipate during mid morning. Highs will range from the mid 40s to mid 50s with occasional sunshine, especially this afternoon. It will be a bit on the windy side today. Tonight will settle down with mostly clear skies early then increasing clouds toward dawn Thursday. Lows will be mostly in the 20s, though urban centers should remain just above freezing. Thursday will become cloudy and eventually scattered showers should develop, especially in Connecticut and Rhode Island during the afternoon. Highs will still be mild, generally the mid 40s to mid 50s. On the weather map, a weak cold front will cross the region late today and a stronger cold front will pass by late Thursday. Ohio valley low pressure will move east of the Virginia capes Friday with wintry weather expected across a large portion of southern New England.
