Variable cloud cover and a stiffening north northeast wind on the fringe of a developing ocean gale is adding to the chill across the southeast New England coast this morning. Skies will turn out sunny most of today with the exception of the Cape and islands where clouds will predominate early. Highs will be mostly in the 40s. Scattered, generally light, rain and snow showers will race across southern New England late tonight with a coating to possibly 1" of wet snow possible on parts of the southwest New Hampshire high terrain. Lows tonight will be mostly between 30 and 35°. Wednesday will turn out quite nice in the afternoon with gusty southwest to west winds. Highs under partly sunny skies will be well up in the 50s. High pressure over New England today gives way to low pressure entering Quebec tonight. Its warm front crosses the region by morning followed by a weak cold front midday Wednesday. Another cold front will cross the region Thursday, possibly accompanied by a few showers. Then the stage is set for an Ohio valley low pressure system heading toward Nantucket and bringing periods of rain, sleet or even snow to the region late in the week. === The weather observed at WORCESTER, MA at 06:54 AM EST was: === The skies were clear.
