Precipitation began as snow in most locations but eventually turned into a mixture of snow, freezing rain and rain. By dawn most locations were reporting rain or light freezing rain. Overnight lows were just around midnight when temperatures were in the 20s to low 30s. Temperatures then went up to reach the low 30s to low 40s by 7 am. The low pressure system was centered just south of Rhode Island early this morning and will move off to the northeast as the morning progresses. As the low moves past the region the precipitation will come to an end and by late afternoon skies will become mostly sunny. Highs today will range from the mid 30s to the upper 40s. Tonight will have mostly clear skies across the region. Lows will range from the single digits over southwest New Hampshire to the mid 20s over the Cape. Saturday will start off mostly sunny but skies should become mostly cloudy by afternoon as a cold front approaches from the west. This cold front will bring a chance of snow in the afternoon. Highs Saturday will be in the 30s region wide. Saturday night skies will be cloudy as the cold front gets closer and there will be a chance of snow. Lows Saturday night will range from the teens to mid 20s. Sunday will see an early end to any snow with skies becoming partly cloudy.
