Ahead of the cold front clouds have continued to increase. Gusty southwest winds will temporarily transport milder air ahead of the cold front. Temperatures this afternoon will range in the lower 40s across the interior to the upper 40s across the coastal plain. The cold front will arrive this evening. However moisture will be limited. Light snow showers or flurries will be favored only across high terrain sections. The cold front passes offshore during the evening with a brief blast of arctic air. Behind the front on Saturday, highs will only be in the 20s, with lows in the single numbers and teens Friday night and early Saturday morning. Saturday mornings wind chill values will drop to 0 to -10° inland. However winds will diminish during Saturday as the high settles overhead. Full sunshine and diminishing winds during the day Saturday will allow it to feel less icy and biting than the morning. A mild day will be followed by a brief shot of very cold air tonight through Saturday night.
