With clear skies and light winds temperatures fell to the a few degrees below zero over the northwest interior sections to the upper teens over the Cape and islands. Today will start off with mostly sunny skies as high pressure moves off shore. However clouds will be on the increase during the morning as low pressure begins to move towards the region. There will be a chance of some light snow during the afternoon. There may be enough snow to make for a messy evening commute over central and western portions of the region with snow reaching the greater Boston area for the end of the commute. Highs will range from the mid 20s to lower 30s across the region. Tonight will see a mixture of snow, sleet, freezing rain and rain from northwest to southeast. Interior sections will see mainly frozen or freezing precipitation where there will be significant snow accumulation of 8 to 12". Meanwhile southeast sections will see snow changing to rain after midnight. Lows will be in the 20s with temperatures then rising slowly over the course of the overnight hours. For Wednesday northern interior sections will see a mixture of sleet and freezing rain ending as a period of rain. Most of the rest of the region will see mainly rain. Highs Wednesday will be in the 30s. Precipitation will come to an end from west to east Wednesday night. Lows will range from the mid teens over the northwest interior where skies will become partly cloudy to the low 30s over the Cape and islands. === The weather observed at WORCESTER, MA at 07:54 AM EST was: === The skies were clear.
