Low temperatures were in the 30s region wide with light winds. A ridge of high pressure will crest across the northeast during the day today. With high pressure in control skies will be mostly sunny to sunny across southern New England. Highs today will range from the upper 40s to mid 50s. As the high pressure moves off shore tonight clouds will be on the increase with a warm front approaching southern New England. There will be a chance of rain, with even some pockets of freezing rain over the interior, as the front gets closer. Lows will range from the mid 20s to low 30s with temperatures rising after midnight. Friday will see generally cloudy skies with periods of rain and showers. Highs will range from the mid 40s to low 50s. The precipitation will wind down during the afternoon as first a warm front and then a cold front move across the region.
