After the heavy rains tapper off last night, southern New England then had
winds gusts in the 50s from the west ahead of and behind a cold frontal
passage. Today southern New England will see a mix of sun and clouds with
seasonable cool temperatures with highs only in the mid 30s to lower 40s.
Numerous small streams went into minor flood yesterday and will gradually
recede today. Tonight under mostly clear skies lows will drop down to mid
winter like 20s along the coast, and teens out across the regions western
areas. A powerful storm over northern Maine this morning will move into the
Canadian Maritimes this evening. A series of weak disturbances will move
through through the region through the midweek, but dry conditions will
prevail. A more significant precipitation event may occur Friday into
Saturday.
