Given the warm start to the day with very mild temperatures, near record
maximums are possible again today. The morning will feature the dissipation of
the patchy fog as southwest winds increase. Breaks in the cloud cover are
expected by mid morning so temperatures should climb into the 50s with 60°
again possible in a few spots. Any showers this afternoon ahead of a cold
front crossing the area will be quick. Stiff wind gusts especially ahead of
the front will be this afternoon`s focus, with potential for 40 mph gusts
throughout the region. Weak high pressure builds in tonight and Thursday, so
the forecast will be mainly clear and dry. Nighttime temperatures will fall to
the upper 20s and lower 30s. The clear skies linger for Thursday morning, but
then moisture increases in the afternoon so expect increasing and thickening
clouds at that time. A cold front will push across southern New England by
this evening and will be followed by a cooler high pressure Thursday.
