Clouds moved into most of Maine and New Hampshire during the night, but across the rooftop of Maine, even at mid morning, skies were still mostly sunny. Precipitation moved into New Hampshire a couple of hours before dawn, but didn`t get started in western Maine until almost mid morning. Some snow managed to accumulate early in the morning, mostly in New Hampshire, but in Maine, temperatures were a little warmer by the time precipitation started falling, resulting in plain rain in many areas. Only a few places in New Hampshire were near freezing, and most areas in both states were in the middle 30s, with a few spots even near or at 40°. Even where snow was occurring in New Hampshire early, there will be a changeover to rain today, as temperatures rise into the upper 30s and low 40s. Any accumulations today will be mainly across our higher elevations. The potential for a few inches exists mostly from 1000 feet and higher. Winter weather advisories therefore continue in those areas. The rest of us will see little or no snow accumulation. The precipitation will wind down late tonight and Saturday morning as the low heads out to sea. High pressure will slowly build into the region over the weekend. This will bring slowly improving conditions and moderating temperatures. The high will take control of our weather through the middle of next week as low pressure and a trailing frontal system begin to approach from the west. === The weather observed at WHITEFIELD, NH at 09:52 AM EST was: === The skies were cloudy.
