Temperatures ranged from 5 below to 5 above zero across most locations, with portions of the outer-cape and islands around 9 or 10°. Northwest winds between 10 and 20 mph were producing dangerous cold wind chills of 15 to 20 below zero across the region. Wind chill advisories are posted for the entire region. Frostbite can develop in just 30 minutes with wind chill this cold! If you are heading outdoors, dress in layers and wear a hat and gloves! Mostly sunny skies are expected today across most of the region, with the exception of ocean effect cloudiness across the Cape and islands. However, it will remain bitterly cold as high temperatures should range from only 5 to 10° across southern New Hampshire and north central Massachusetts, to between 10 and 15 along the coastal plain. Gusty northwest winds will result in wind chills below zero all day. Meanwhile, across the outer-cape ocean effect snow showers are expected. Total accumulations of 1 to 3" are possible from Provincetown, to wellfleet to Chatham. The ocean effect snow showers across the outer-cape should come to an end this evening. Otherwise, mostly clear skies should give way to mostly cloudy skies toward morning as a warm front approaches the region. Low temperatures should range from 0 to 5 below across southern New Hampshire and northwest Massachusetts, to mainly the single digits elsewhere. A warm front will move through our region on Saturday and skies should generally be mostly cloudy. This will probably produce a brief band of scattered snow showers in the morning or early afternoon. A few neighborhoods could see a coating of snow. Milder air should invade the region after the warm front passes. Highs should range from 25 to 30 north of the Massachusetts turnpike, to the lower 30s south of the pike. === The weather observed at WORCESTER, MA at 07:54 AM EST was: === The skies were clear.
