The snow may become heavy at times by daybreak Wednesday. This will have a significant impact on the Wednesday morning rush hour. The snow will continue heavy at times on Wednesday across northwest Massachusetts and southwest New Hampshire. However, latest indications suggest that a changeover to sleet and rain is becoming more likely from the Connecticut valley to the Merrimack Valley including the Worcester area. A developing storm along the southeast coast will roar up the coast tonight, getting stronger as it does so. Milder air will work its way into parts of Rhode Island and southeast Massachusetts toward Wednesday morning. This will cause the snow to mix with and then change to rain and sleet in those areas. Locations farther north and west will be deeper into the cold air and so should continue to have snow through the day Wednesday. The snow will taper off Wednesday evening. By the time all is said and done, snowfall amounts will range from a few inches in the southeast to as much as two feet in parts of northwest Massachusetts and southwest New Hampshire. Strong winds behind the storm will then blast in on Wednesday night, blowing the snow around and transporting more chilly air into New England. Temperatures Thursday and Friday will struggle just to reach the mid 20s. === The weather observed at WORCESTER, MA at 07:54 AM EST was: === The weather reported was light snow and fog.
