Temperatures fell to the single numbers north of the Massachusetts turnpike and to the teens most other places. Winds were light in the interior, but the coastline had lingering wind gusts to around 20 mph. The fair skies will slowly give way to increasing high clouds today. This will dim the sunshine, and because of this the temperatures will only climb into the 20s and lower 30s. The clouds are associated with a developing storm along the southeast coast. That storm will roar up the coast tonight, getting stronger as it does so. Snow leading the storm will move into southern New England between 10 pm and 2 am. That snow will become heavy at times by morning. Milder air will work its way into parts of Rhode Island and southeast Massachusetts toward Wednesday morning. This will cause the snow to mix with and then change to rain and sleet in those areas. Locations farther north and west will be deeper into the cold air and so should continue to have snow through the day Wednesday. The snow will taper off Wednesday evening. By the time all is said and done, snowfall amounts will range from a few inches in the southeast to as much as two feet in parts of northwest Massachusetts and southwest New Hampshire. Strong winds behind the storm will then blast in on Wednesday night, blowing the snow around and transporting more chilly air into New England. Temperatures Thursday and Friday will struggle just to reach the mid 20s. === The weather observed at WORCESTER, MA at 07:54 AM EST was: === The skies were mostly clear.
