These clouds did not prevent temperatures from plummeting well into the single digits, and even below zero in some cases, across the interior at 4 am. Temperatures ranged from 10 to 20° along the immediate coast and across the islands. Fortunately winds were considerably lighter than previous nights, so wind chills ranged from about 5 below zero to 10 above. Dry and cold weather will remain entrenched across southern New England through the rest of this week. The causes of this persistent cold air will be a nearly stationary low pressure across the province of Labrador in eastern Canada, and a strong dome of high pressure building slowly across the upper midwest. This will yield temperatures remaining below normal both by day and night. Despite the cold, no big storms seem to be on the horizon at this time, meaning little to no chance for any snow. === The weather observed at WORCESTER, MA at 07:54 AM EST was: === The skies were partly cloudy. The prevailing visibility was 10 miles. Temperature: 7F (-14C) Dewpoint: -6F (-21C) Relative Humidity: 55% Winds from the W (270 degs) at 9 mph. Pressure: 1011.4 millibars.
