Scattered showers moved through much of the region, while areas of dense fog formed along the south coast, Cape Cod and the islands. Record warmth is expected today as highs top out well into the 60s. Showers moving east from New York state and Pennsylvania will cross southern New England this morning, before moving offshore this afternoon. There may be some breaks of sunshine this afternoon, especially away from the south coast. A cold front will cross the region late this afternoon and this evening, and may be accompanied by wind gusts to 35 mph as it moves through. Skies will clear tonight, but temperatures will only fall back into the mid 30s to mid 40s. On Sunday, high pressure will become centered over New England. Although it will be cooler than today, temperatures will still be above normal for early January, as highs top out in the upper 40s and lower 50s. A fast moving storm system will bring rain to the region late Sunday night and Monday morning. There is a chance that the rain may begin as a very brief period of wet snow across far northwest Massachusetts and southwest New Hampshire. However, even if this happens it would quickly change to rain as warmer air rapidly moves into the region. === ORH Terminal Aerodrome Forecast not available. ===
