Farther inland where the atmosphere was cold enough to support snow, accumulations of 4 to 7" were common across southern New Hampshire. Farther south across northern Massachusetts, most locations picked up 2 to 3" of snowfall. As the low tracks northeast into the Gulf of Maine today, some breaks of sunshine should develop this afternoon. Despite some sunshine, brisk west winds will transport cold air into southern New England, with temperatures only climbing into the low and mid 40s this afternoon. Across northern Massachusetts and southern New Hampshire, the fresh snow cover will limit highs to the upper 30s today. Other than a brief snow shower tonight and Friday, brisk dry weather will prevail with temperatures continuing to run below normal. Winds will slacken Saturday, however temperatures will remain cool with highs only in the 40s. An ocean storm is expected to develop well south and east of New England Saturday.
