Other than some spotty drizzle and light snow across southern New Hampshire to Cape Ann, mainly dry conditions prevailed. Low pressure over the Great Lakes this morning will give way to a new area of low pressure over the mid Atlantic states this afternoon. Rain from this system will overspread southern New England this afternoon. Across northern Massachusetts and southern New Hampshire, rain may mix with sleet at times. By this evening, the mid Atlantic low will strengthen and move northeast, passing very close to the southern New England coast. This will result in a wind swept rain for much of the region tonight. However, across northern Massachusetts and southern New Hampshire, the precipitation will fall in the form of sleet and snow, then changing to all snow around midnight. There is the potential for 4 to 8" of snowfall across this area Wednesday night. Dry and unseasonably chilly weather will arrive Thursday behind the departing coastal low. Thereafter, our long range weather maps indicate below normal temperatures will likely persist into next week. === The weather observed at WORCESTER, MA at 06:54 AM EST was: === The skies were cloudy.
