The precipitation was in the form of light rain across Cape Cod and the islands, with light snow farther north over coastal Rhode Island extending east into dartmouth, New Bedford and wareham. This precipitation was associated with an ocean storm passing well south of Nantucket. Rain and snow is expected to persist this morning across the south coast, with the northern extent of the precipitation reaching Providence and Plymouth. A slushy 1 to 3" are possible across the immediate south coast, Cape Cod and Marthas Vineyard. For Nantucket, temperatures should remain warm enough for all rain. Away from the south coast, including the Providence to Boston I95 corridor, little if any accumulation is expected as the snow will be light. The precipitation will exit the region by midday, with skies remaining mostly cloudy. Tonight, a cold front will approach the region, accompanied by scattered snow showers. A minor accumulation of a dusting to two inches is possible. The front will sweep across the area early Saturday morning, ushering in colder air into the region. Sunday, an arctic front will move across New England, setting the stage for very cold temperatures and bitterly cold wind chills into much of next week. === The weather observed at WORCESTER, MA at 07:54 AM EST was: === The skies were mostly clear.
