Patchy dense fog formed in many of the interior valleys as well as on Cape Cod and the islands. Early morning temperatures were in the 40s and 50s, except for some upper 30s in the usual cold spots. Patchy dense fog will burn off quickly this morning. Plenty of sunshine and a southwest breeze will boost afternoon temperatures well into the 70s, if not to 80° in parts of the Connecticut valley. The exception will be on Cape Cod and the islands where readings will top out in the 60s today. High pressure will move off the mid Atlantic coast today. This will allow a warm front to lift through southern New England tonight, which may be accompanied by a few showers south of the mass turnpike. Lows will drop back into the 50s. Low pressure over the Great Lakes will head slowly east Friday and Friday night. Warm and humid air in place over the region will bring showers and thunderstorms to the interior Friday afternoon, then to all of the region Friday night. Improving weather is expected Saturday as the low heads off the coast, and high pressure builds into New England for the holiday weekend. === The weather observed at WORCESTER, MA at 08:54 AM EDT was: === The skies were clear.
