Winds were out of the west at 5 to 10 mph. For today, winds will turn southwesterly and increase to 15 to 25 mph this afternoon. Gusts to 35 mph will be possible. Highs today will reach into the low 60s to around 70° before a strong cold front comes barreling through from west to east later this afternoon. Accompanying the front will be a line of showers moving through with embedded thunderstorms. Showers are expected to invade western Massachusetts between 1 and 3 pm, then spread east to the greater Boston area between 5 and 7 pm. Showers and thunderstorms could remain in tact as they head over the Cape and islands into the evening hours. Winds will turn westerly tonight in the wake of the cold front and blow 10 to 20 mph. Higher gusts are possible over interior higher terrain and the outer Cape. Lows overnight will fall into the upper 30s to mid 40s. Monday will feature partly cloudy skies with breezy conditions.
