However, temperatures will be cooler, in the 60s along the south coast of Rhode Island and Massachusetts, including Cape Cod and the islands. Weather changes are in store tonight, as low pressure develops near the New York city area. This low will bring a period of rain showers to the region late tonight and early Friday morning. Some of the showers will contain heavy rain, which may result in minor poor drainage flooding during the Friday morning commute. As the low moves into northern New England, clouds will give way to partial sunshine by Friday afternoon. However, sunshine combined with a cold front approaching from the west and cold air aloft, may trigger scattered showers and thunderstorms later Friday afternoon and evening. Fair weather will return this weekend, with seasonable temperatures and just the chance of a stray shower or thunderstorm. === The weather observed at WORCESTER, MA at 07:54 AM EDT was: === The skies were mostly clear.
