Persistent rainfall continued overnight in nearly the same places, resulting in about another inch of rain in many places. Although rainfall rates slowed down, additional rainfall only served to aggravate flooding already occurring. The high in eastern Canada and the low in the Ohio valley remained in about the same place overnight, resulting in nearly clear skies over all but southwest Maine, and the state of New Hampshire. Temperatures in northeastern Maine, where skies were clearest, dipped into the 30s, while the rest of us saw lows in the 40s. Today we'll see little change in this picture as high pressure keeps things good up north but the onshore flow maintains the rain pattern in southern areas. By this evening the weather pattern which has persisted for days now shows signs of finally breaking as the high slides back to the northeast, and the low in Ohio moves up through our neck of the woods tonight and Tuesday and slowly dissipates across southern Canada and northern New England over the next several days. That repositioning of weather systems will turn our flow into an offshore direction and dry up the persistent rain. This will however maintain cloudy showery weather in all areas throughout the day Tuesday, and after that further improvement over mid and late week promises to be slow. === The weather observed at WHITEFIELD, NH at 10:52 AM EDT was: === The weather reported was light rain.
