Temperatures at 5 am were mostly between 45 and 50, except in the mid 50s in the Connecticut valley. At 5 am, the leading edge of an area of rain was just entering the Connecticut valley and east slopes of the Berkshires. Rain will slowly spread east across the remainder of southern New England today as low pressure approaches from the southwest, but may not reach east coastal sections of Massachusetts until later this afternoon. The rain will be heavy at times in the Connecticut valley and east slopes of the Berkshires. Temperatures will be mostly in the 50s to near 60 in the Connecticut valley. More rain is expected tonight and lasting right through the weekend. Low pressure will stall to the southwest of southern New England as a persistent easterly flow transports Atlantic moisture into the region. The heaviest rain will likely shift east across central and eastern Massachusetts, Rhode Island and southern New Hampshire tonight and Saturday. Lows tonight will be in the mid 40s to lower 50s with highs on Saturday ranging from 50 to 60°.
