At 5 am, temperatures ranged between 45 and 50°. The region remains stuck between two weather systems that are pretty much stalled. A strengthening high pressure system will remain over Newfoundland and Labrador, extending west into Quebec, while low pressure will weaken south of Nantucket today and tonight. However, another strong low over the Great Lakes region will also remain nearly stationary into this weekend. An associated cold front will swing toward the mid Atlantic coast Thursday night, spawning another low that will try to work up toward southern New England Friday and through the weekend. Thanks to the high stuck over eastern Canada and the western Atlantic, the low and front will go nowhere fast, remaining over the region. All this means is that the region will be stuck with low clouds, periods of rain and areas of drizzle and fog through into Sunday, Mothers Day. The second low and front could bring periods of heavy rainfall to southern New England into southern New Hampshire, mainly on Friday and Saturday. Temperatures will also remain stuck into the weekend as well, with highs mainly in the 50s and lows in the 40s. === The weather observed at WORCESTER, MA at 07:54 AM EDT was: === The skies were cloudy.
