One to 2" of rain was common the past 48 hours from Manchester New Hampshire across eastern Massachusetts and all of Rhode Island into extreme northeast Connecticut. For some areas this was the largest two day precipitation event since just before Thanksgiving. The leftover remnants of the moisture in the form of clouds, patchy fog and drizzle will quickly dissipate during the first couple of hours after sunrise. Temperatures at dawn were close to 50. Today will become partly to mostly sunny with afternoon high temperatures in the 70s except upper 50s to upper 60s along the nearest couple of miles of coast. 80° would not be a surprise in parts of the Connecticut valley around 3 o'clock this afternoon. Tonight may see a a brief shower or sprinkle during the overnight hours. Otherwise it will be seasonably mild with lows in the mid 40s to mid 50s. Friday, will be a gorgeous day for all of our area, lower humidity and temperatures in the 70s just about everywhere. It will turn a bit cooler over the weekend and of the two weekend days, Sunday promises to be the nicer for outdoor activity. Low pressure well southeast of Cape Cod will be slowly easing away from our area late today. A weak cool front will cross New England tonight. A strengthening cold front will cross our region Friday night with a small chance of a shower early Saturday. Dry high pressure will follow later Saturday into Monday. === The weather observed at WORCESTER, MA at 08:54 AM EDT was: === The skies were clear. The prevailing visibility was 10 miles.
