Meanwhile, rain spread slowly from the down east area of Maine, reaching the New Hampshire border during the pre-dawn hours. It took until mid morning for the rain to reach all of New Hampshire. By daybreak it was quite chilly across Maine, with most towns reporting temperatures in the upper 30s and low 40s. There was a raw northeast wind of 5 to 15 miles an hour. Sunrise temperatures in New Hampshire were in the middle 40s. At 10 am, the storm producing our rain was located well southeast of New England. This area of low pressure was throwing abundant Atlantic moisture into Maine and New Hampshire. This wet flow will continue through Wednesday as this storm edges northwest towards the region. An inch or more of rain will fall in many areas from eastern New Hampshire into Maine. By Wednesday night, this storm will begin to pull away, as a ridge of high pressure builds in from the southwest. This will allow for some drying out over central and southern sections. Over the north and mountains, the drying will be limited. In these areas, low pressure moving across eastern Canada will be close enough to keep clouds and showers in the forecast. As we look into the weekend, it appears another storm will be headed towards New England. This system will begin to affect the area Friday night, producing another round of rain. === The weather observed at WHITEFIELD, NH at 10:52 AM EDT was: === The weather reported was light rain.
