However, some mid level cloudiness was just beginning to back in off the ocean onto the immediate coast. In addition, rain showers were beginning to overspread Nantucket. Winds were rather light from the northeast, although they were beginning to pickup between 15 and 20 mph on the Cape and islands. A windy and chilly day is on tap for the coastal areas. In fact, a wind advisory is posted for the Cape and islands where northeast winds of 25 to 35 mph with gusts near 45 mph are expected. Highs should only top out in the upper 40s and lower 50s across the coast because of the wind blowing off the cold ocean. In addition, a retrograding ocean storm will allow for rain showers to back in off the ocean onto the Cape and islands. Some of these rain showers may reach into the rest of the coastal plain by late afternoon or evening. Meanwhile, across the interior of southern New Hampshire, western and central Massachusetts as well as Connecticut it will be partly sunny. High temperatures in this region will soar well into the 60s, to near 70. Rain will continue to back off the ocean tonight and probably effect eastern Massachusetts though Tuesday. Across the western sections of the region, a few rain showers may develop toward morning and on Tuesday but most of the time may end up rain free. Low temperatures should be held in the 40s tonight with the cloud cover. High temperatures on Tuesday should be held in the upper 40s and lower 50s across much of the region, although the Connecticut valley may see high temperatures approach 60. === The weather observed at WORCESTER, MA at 08:54 AM EDT was: === The skies were clear.
