Fog and low clouds covered the south coast and the islands. Elsewhere in southern New England, clouds leftover from New York thunderstorms moved through. The air was somewhat humid, and temperatures started the day in the upper 50s and 60s. Today will start quiet, with more active weather expected in the afternoon and at night. Sunshine will thin out the clouds this morning, allowing the humid air to heat up. Temperatures will reach the 80s away from the coast while coastal areas top out in the 70s. Meanwhile, a cold front will approach from Canada. All of this will combine to form thunderstorms over interior southern New England, with a few producing very heavy rainfall and possibly some damaging wind. The cold front will slowly settle south across southern New England tonight. Evening showers and thunderstorms may diminish for a few hours during the night, but should increase again late at night. Fog will return, especially along the south coast. Temperatures will again be in the upper 50s and 60s. Low pressure developing over the mid Atlantic states will move up the front Friday and Saturday. This will spread more thunderstorms and heavy downpours into our area for the finish of the week. Drier weather returns Sunday night and should be with us through the first half of next week. === The weather observed at WORCESTER, MA at 08:54 AM EDT was: === The skies were clear.
