Temperatures fell below freezing and this made for some quite slick roadways. Overnight low temperatures ranged from the mid teens to the mid 20s. Skies will be mostly sunny in southeastern sections and partly sunny in northern and western areas of southern New England today. But the most significant factor will be the wind. West to northwest winds circulating around deepening low pressure over the Gulf of Saint Lawrence will blow from 20 to 30 mph in most areas, with gusts to 35 to 45 mph possible at times along the coast. Gale warnings are posted for the coastal waters with small craft advisories for Boston harbor and Narragansett Bay. High temperatures will struggle to get out of the 20s in most areas. Tonight will be clear to partly cloudy and colder once again, with lows mainly from 10 to 15 but some outlying areas dipping into the single digits above zero. Winds will be slow to diminish, so wind chill values could once again drop to zero to 10 below zero. Sunny days and clear nights are forecast for Tuesday and Wednesday as high pressure builds in. But it will be cold with overnight lows in the single digits and highs in the 20s. Wind chill values could dip to 20 below zero Tuesday night in northwest Massachusetts and southern New Hampshire. Low pressure could bring some snow on Thursday but since it is expected to pass to our north, amounts should be on the light side. === === === ORH Terminal Aerodrome Forecast issued 19-Jan-2004 06:37 EST === 7am: 28022g32kt P6sm Skc 10am: 29023g33kt P6sm Sct045 Sct250 5pm: 29020g30kt P6sm Sct250 11pm: 29015g25kt P6sm Sct250
