Extremely dangerous cold wind chills will arrive in southern New England late
this afternoon and evening. Another round of arctic air will arrive in full
force later today and tonight, behind a storm system headed for the Maritimes.
For many locations, this will be record shattering chill, possibly rivaling
the coldest January temperatures on record in the Worcester and Boston areas.
Snow will end along the Mass Pike corridor this morning, and will come to an
end on the south coast, Cape Cod and the islands early this afternoon. Ocean
effect snow squalls will develop on Cape Cod and Nantucket early tonight as
the colder air arrives, and last into Friday morning. Temperatures will
rebound on Saturday, as high pressure briefly builds into New England. A weak
weather system may bring a few snow showers on Sunday.
