Overnight temperatures generally held steady in the upper 30s and lower 40s across most of southern New England. Some of the typically colder spots in southwest New Hampshire and western Massachusetts, including Keene and Orange, dropped to near freezing. A cold front will thicken clouds across the region today with showers moving into the Connecticut river valley by around midday. Showers will likely spread across the rest of southern New England during the afternoon, as the front slowly moves east. Temperatures will top off in the mid to upper 50s across interior southern New England today, with a few suburbs southwest of Boston approaching 60°. The relatively cold ocean water will keep high temperatures in the low 50s along the south coast. Showers will linger into this evening as the cold front gradually makes its way off the coast. The wind will shift from southwest to northwest as the front passes. Temperatures tonight will drop into the lower 30s across southwest New Hampshire and northwest Massachusetts, and mostly in the mid to upper 30s elsewhere. High pressure will build into New England Thursday and provide us with abundant sunshine and high temperatures in the lower 50s. The wind will be from the northwest around 10 to 15 mph on Thursday. === The weather observed at WORCESTER, MA at 07:54 AM EST was: === The skies were clear. The prevailing visibility was 10 miles.
