Low temperatures were on the mild side, generally ranging from the mid 30s to mid 40s. The exceptions were a few locations from Hartford to Providence and Taunton, where overnight lows were in the 45 to 50° range. Last evenings rainfall south of the mass turnpike ranged from a few hundredths along the pike to between one quarter and one half inch south coast. There were even some thunderstorms there, descendents of the hailers that pelted the New York metro area late yesterday. Fog will thin rapidly late this morning over interior southern New England with sunshine boosting temperatures into the upper 50s to mid 60s. The exception will be coastal southeast New England, where onshore winds will keep the fog hugging the coast and temperatures chilled all day long, in the 40s. Tonight may bring a few showers to southwest New Hampshire, northwest Massachusetts and northwest Connecticut as a cold front passes through the region, but for the most part the night should be precipitation free. Fog may still plague the immediate coast this evening. Sunday will generally be a few degrees cooler than today with highs in the 50s and a more defined west wind. However, coastal Massachusetts will see a wind shift to onshore again and chilly temperatures lowering through the 40s during the afternoon. Early next week will be dry as high pressure passes across the coastal waters and a warming trend should begin next Tuesday. === The weather observed at WORCESTER, MA at 08:26 AM EST was: === The weather reported was fog.
