With high pressure building over Quebec, colder air seeped southward across northern and central New England overnight. Keene reported 41° at midnight, but had dropped to 30° by 4 am. A similar change at Manchester occurred, where the temperature dropped from 42° at midnight to 31° by 4 am. The colder air will continue to seep south through southern New England this morning, and set the stage for another late winter snow storm. Low pressure over the Ohio valley early this morning will move off the mid Atlantic coast this afternoon, and produce snow across southern New England. The heaviest snow is expected across northern Connecticut, Rhode Island, southeast Massachusetts and south central Massachusetts along and south of the Mass Pike. Accumulations of 2 to 5" are expected across this area. Snowfall will taper off to 1 to 3" for locations north of the Mass Pike, with likely only an inch or less across southwest New Hampshire. Most of the snow will fall between mid morning and late afternoon. Roads may become quite slick for a time today as temperatures drop below freezing at the same time that the snow is falling. For most locations back from the immediate south coast, temperatures will drop through the 30s this morning and into the 20s this afternoon. The snow will end as quickly as it begins late this afternoon in western sections and early this evening across the Cape and islands. Clearing skies and chilly temperatures are in store for tonight, with lows zero to 10 above across southwest New Hampshire and northwest Massachusetts, and mostly in the teens elsewhere. High pressure will drift across New England Friday to provide a sunny, although chilly day. Temperatures will only reach the low to mid 30s across southern New England Friday afternoon. A somewhat brisk north wind Friday morning, will diminish by late Friday afternoon. === The weather observed at WORCESTER, MA at 07:54 AM EST was: === The skies were cloudy.
