Rain, snow, sleet and isolated pockets of freezing rain made driving hazardous. By 4 am, most areas were reporting snow, with the heaviest snow over central Massachusetts. Cape Cod and the islands were reporting rain after a brief period of snow and sleet. Temperatures overnight changed little. At 4 am, every station in our region was reporting low to mid 30s. Today, the coastal low will continue to intensify as it heads for the Canadian Maritimes. There will still be plenty of cloud cover throughout the day with some scattered snow showers. Precipitation is expected to be light so there should only be an additional inch or less of accumulation. The northwest wind behind the low, is expected to be strong and gusty, with gusts to 40 mph expected over east coastal locations and high terrain inland. Temperatures are expected to continue to be in the 30s. Sunday night, gradual clearing will take place. Conditions will remain breezy with temperatures dropping into the 20s. Looking ahead to Monday, high pressure will make a brief visit during the day, so conditions are expected to be fair with seasonable temperatures. Cloud cover will be increasing during the course of the day. Another intensifying low pressure system currently over the plains states will be heading our way during the day, and is expected to spread mostly rain across the region Monday night into Tuesday. The low will drag a cold front across the region early Tuesday evening. Conditions are expected to be somewhat blustery Tuesday night and Wednesday, as colder air and gusty northwest winds invade the region. === The weather observed at WORCESTER, MA at 07:54 AM EST was: === The weather reported was light snow and fog.
