High pressure over eastern Canada was generating a moist easterly flow across the area. Weak low pressure over northern New York state, and another well south of Nantucket was providing some occasional light snow and rain across eastern Massachusetts during the predawn hours. Temperatures are above freezing, so roadways will remain wet and any snow accumulation will be confined to the colder surfaces. The precipitation will taper off shortly after daybreak. Temperatures will rebound into the 40s today through the region under a mostly cloudy. Breaks of sunshine will develop this afternoon as a ridge of high pressure over the Gulf of Saint Lawrence builds southward across southern New England. Clouds will be on the increase Wednesday as another area of low pressure develops off the mid Atlantic coast, and begins moving northeast.
