Strong west winds have been diminishing through the morning, but some areas across eastern Massachusetts were still experiencing wind gusts over 30 mph. Skies were generally clear, except for a few clouds across western Massachusetts into northern Connecticut. Early morning temperatures were mainly in the upper 20s to lower 30s regionwide, except for the mid 30s on Cape Cod and the islands. As the Canadian low c0ntinues to move further into the Maritimes, a weak ridge of high pressure will push quickly across the region, bringing mostly sunny skies and lighter winds today. Cloud cover will quickly spread over southern New England again late today as a new low approaches from the Great Lakes region. Precipitation will begin late this evening across western sections, then push eastward by around midnight. Most areas will see a mix of rain, freezing rain and or sleet. Coastal areas and southeastern New England will receive mainly rain, though there could be a little mix with snow over those areas as well. This low will push east quickly on Tuesday morning, with another weak high moving into the region late Tuesday. Any precipitation will quickly end, with some partial clearing arriving late in the day. Clouds will linger across the Berkshires into southern New Hampshire, where they may be leftover snow showers. === === === ORH Terminal Aerodrome Forecast issued 14-Jan-2002 06:40 EST === 7am: 26015g24kt P6sm Skc 10am: 28012g22kt P6sm Sct200 12pm: 25010kt P6sm Sct120 Sct200; Tempo 2-4pm: Bkn120 7pm: 19006kt P6sm Sct040 Ovc100; Becmg 9-11pm: 14005kt Bkn040 0am: 10006kt P6sm Sct020 Ovc040; Tempo 0-2am: 3sm -fzrasn Br Bkn020 2am: 09007kt 3sm -fzrasn Br Ovc020; Tempo 2-7am: 1 1/2sm -sn Br Ovc008
