South winds were locally gusting to around 30 mph, mainly along the south coast of Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Winds gusted to 49 mph on the western shore of Narragansett Bay around 4:30 this morning. Temperatures were mainly in the 40s, except in the upper 30s over sections of southern New Hampshire and northern Massachusetts at 4 am. Strengthening low pressure over eastern Ontario will move northeast into Quebec today. A strong cold front will push east during the day, moving into the region this afternoon. Ahead of the front, there will be a period of south winds from 20 to 35 mph with some gusts close to 50 mph. This could cause some localized damage, including fallen trees and power lines. The rain from early this morning will taper off to showers by mid morning, then will fall through early afternoon. The cold front will push across the region late this afternoon into tonight, with more cold air pushing east as skies become partly cloudy over western areas. Skies will remain mostly cloudy over the east overnight. Skies will be partly sunny on Monday across the region.
