Susan's Bicycle Information

I jokingly refer to myself as Mrs. Noah, as I always seem to have at least two of everything. Well, when it comes to bicycles I have to confess to a bit of overindulgence. I currently own:

And I can't forget my one wheeled vehicle:

Bicycle Tours

It has been my dream to ride my bicycle across the U.S. for many years. Finally, in a fit of frustration, I decided that if I just started I could join many little trips together into a cross-country journey. I started from my home in Pasadena in April, 1997. A brief journal entry of the first legs are included:

  • Pasadena to Amboy, California (March, 1997)
  • Route 66 in Arizona (September, 1997)
  • Route 66, Arizona Bits and Pieces (September, 1998)

One of my passions is bicycle touring. Many states have week long rides and I've discovered that it's a wonderful way to visit an area. What better way to see a state than at the slow pace of a bicycle. You really experience the countryside - smell the flowers (and the feedlots!), hear the birds and notice every change in elevation. I have met a terrific group of people on these rides. Even though my goal is to ride in every state, I've got a long way to go. Even so, I have managed to visit some states I'd not been to before. On my list of states to visit in the near future are Oklahoma and South Dakota.
What is bicycle touring like? Read about some of the trips I have been on and you'll get an idea.
