The Piranha in his tank
Sits.

Very boring, this dangerous fish.
Eats a couple of goldfish a week.
I almost forget - except for the disappearance of the fish -
that He eats them.

(They just disappear.)
Gently floating, suddenly gone,
and he seems to be yawning.

Walking by the tank today,
my eye is caught by a flash of white
(goldfish belly)

Looking closely to see
half a goldfish staring balefully back at me.
Upside down, its head and belly up.

I can't look - but each time I walk by the tank,
my eye is caught by the white - a bright flash, desperate beacon
to the other goldfish.

Sushi.
